About

The House of Nutrition was established as Kramer’s in 1947 in Chicago. The store moved North to Kenosha in the 1960’s and became the House of Nutrition where Mr. Stephen Haught owned the business in the Uptown area of 22nd Avenue. In the fall of 2006, the store moved to it’s present location in Downtown Kenosha. Mr. Steve Ogren managed the store and offered a wealth of knowledge to the community.

The House of Nutrition & Wellness was established by Mr. Mark Wistar in November of 2014 and strives to carry a large supply of local and Wisconsin sourced items. Products from local companies include vitamin supplements, herbs, local honey, organic eggs, essential oil and tea. Locally made Tapuat Kombucha is a recent addition and quickly becoming a local favorite. The Kombucha is available on tap or in bottles and can also be infused with Hemp CBD.

The House of Nutrition Store Front — This building has housed a few businesses over the years. House of Nutrition moved from the uptown area of 22nd avenue in 2006.

The House of Nutrition South West View of Store — The store was reorganized in May 2022 from brand-blocking into categories by supplement function.

The House of Nutrition Sea Moss — Ocean’s Promise and Natural Renewals brands of sea moss cover a variety of flavors and mineral profiles in gel form. Also available for purchase in frozen, capsule, and gummy forms.

The House of Nutrition Now and Pranarom Essential Oils — Our essential oil section offers a wide variety of supplies whether simply diffusing your favorite scents to enjoy, to empty bottles to DIY natural products of your own creation. We supply carrier oils for massage or dilution purposes that stretch the more concentrated form. You can learn a thing or or two from free literature provided or purchase a book reference of the properties.

The House of Nutrition Natural Body Soaps — Whether you prefer bar, liquid or an unscented base to make your own wash, we have you covered. An entire shelf is dedicated to natural soaps using plant-based ingredients. We believe in preserving your body’s natural oils by ensuring these never contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) ingredients.

The House of Nutrition Multivitamins for the whole family — Multivitamins for the whole family that are whole food-based to fill in any nutritional gaps.

The House of Nutrition Honey — The honey shelf is mainly stocked with Kallas brand honey products which cover a wide variety of floral fields which produce unique flavors by the colonies. Here you will find light and dark amber shades of honey in “easy squeeze” bottles along with raw honey, honeycomb, seasonal bee pollen, beeswax, and creamed honey. We also have honey local to our area code, delivered by the former president of the Wisconsin Honey Producers- until it sells out, anyway!

The House of Nutrition Chicory Cacao Matcha — Looking for a food-based prebiotic? Chicory tea which is both a food source for probiotics in the intestines as well as a coffee alternative safe that is acid free. Polyphenol-rich cacao makes a wonderful caffeine-free stimulant superfood treat. Try before hitting the dance floor or after clearing the path of snow with your favorite “milk” beverage, honey, or even sprinkle in some cinnamon.

The House of Nutrition 1 Herbal — Bulk herbs are for when you are willing to prepare them based on their instructions. Usually preparation means boiling water and steeping in hot water before consuming. If this is not at option due to time restraints or palate preference, plenty of encapsulated and liquid forms are available instead. The latter options work best when your digestion system is primed for proper absorption. Call the store for further explanation on what may be best for you.
